Rulide (Rulide)
General information
Rulide is an antibiotic belonging to a class of medicines called macrolides. That is a semi-synthetic antibiotic that has a potent active ingredient – Roxithromycin. This drug is aimed to treat breathing passages (pharyngitis, tonsillitis, sinusitis), urinary and soft tissue infections. It reduces the growth of bacteria by affecting the process of their protein synthesis.
Directions
You must take Rulide once or twice per day; however a daily dosage for adults does not exceed 300 mg. A usual course of treatment covers 7- 10 days.
Precautions
The dosage schedule must be adjusted in case of hepatic insufficiency, hepatic cirrhosis, jaundice, and ascites. This medicine may also affect breast milk composition, so to avert a possible negative effect on your child, breastfeeding or treatment with this medicine should be immediately stopped.
Contraindications
You must stop taking Rulid if you have hypersensitivity to it, or you are concurrently taking medicines with ergotamine that cause constriction of blood vessels used treat migraine.
Possible side effect
Most regular side effects include digestive upsets (diarrhea, tympanism, epigastric pain, gastric thrush) nausea, retching, vertigo, headache, fatigue, allergic reactions (nettle rash, swelling of tongue and face).
Drug interactions
Rulide can increase plasma levels of theophylline when co-administered. If concurrently you take medicines with warfarin and erythromycin, Rulide can impair their activeness.

Generally Rulide is well tolerated, however if you suffer from severe allergic reactions (nettle rash, swelling of tongue and face) you must immediately consult your doctor.
Storage
This medication is stored at room temperature between 59-77 F (15-25 C) away from light and moisture, kids and pets. Do not use it after expiration term is over.
